We have Fabregas who’s spot is guaranteed. The only other spot is being fought between Diaby, Denilson, Ramsey, Bischoff and possibly even Song (however, i think Song will slot in at CB since he played there last season ahead of Senderos). All five fighting for one spot.
If a big name player like Gareth Barry (just for example) is brought in, he would definitely be starting alongside Fabregas. Leaving 5 players to fight for two back up place to them.
Perhaps no one thought Ramsey is as good as he is right now. Although he will be playing in Carling Cup mostly for a start, he will definitely be fighting for that starting place too.
Didn’t Arsene mention that he don’t want to hinder the young talents whom are coming up? If an experienced midfielder is brought in, then Arsenal will sell either Diaby or Denilson within the next 12 months.
I am not complaining about having an experienced midfielder which I feel is the best for the youngsters and club. I’m pointing out that there are possibilities of no big name will come in; or if it happens, one of the current players will leave.

Out of Diaby and Denilson, I reckon Diaby. I still think Wenger will buy someone new though; hoping for Barry or someone like that.
July 30, 2008 at 5:16 pm
i think arsene will pick eboue maybe as defensive midfielder,i had a funny nightmare about it two nights on the trot
July 30, 2008 at 5:16 pm
Bischoff, who is he and more to the point who on earth cares?
July 30, 2008 at 5:22 pm
toure tribe underboss,
I hope your dream doesn’t come through!
July 30, 2008 at 5:23 pm
Diaby, like Fab4, is an attacking option. Realistically, the defensive mid to partner Cesc will be either Denilson or Song, with Bischoff and Coquelin for back up. Other possibilities are Djourou, Toure, Sagna and maybe Ramsey (who is more attacking as of now). If one of these combinations works, all will be well. Buying someone like Veloso would be safer, but expensive.
July 30, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Arsene we love you, but buy a fucking experienced player will you.
July 30, 2008 at 5:24 pm
thank you toure tribe underboss, now i will have nightmares!!!
July 30, 2008 at 5:25 pm
eboue wouldnt be a bad defensive midfielder, although he would hae no vision for any good through balls. dare i say it but yeah, i would like that option.hehe
July 30, 2008 at 5:27 pm
I think Toure could play there and then we hopefully sign a defender like Zapata, Kompany or Raul Albiol but I think Wenger will sign another defensive midfielder over a defender. So he may still go for Barry, Inler or Yaya but I think Veloso may be the guy cause he’s young, can also play in defense and because I think we’d be the only one going for him at the moment. I’d prefer we bought a defender and promote one of the players we have but Wenger will bring in Cesc’s new partner i think.
July 30, 2008 at 5:28 pm
I have watched Bischoff a few times in my time at Bremen. He is very talented…however 12months too early. Personally i would go with Diaby for that CM spot…for now…until we get Veloso
July 30, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Toulalan, Ledesma, Inler?!! I think it could be one of these guys…
Altough I have faith in Denilson I think he should be loaned out to play regularly for a season before he’s really ready to play in such an important position. Diaby has to work on his defense skill, timing tackles, spotting gaps, taking over full back positions etc. If he can improve on that he can be our new Vieira. Ramsey has shown that he will be back up for Cesc and occaisonally get a game on the wing.
July 30, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Diaby, a million times better than bischoff, and yet another great recent signing, well done wenger, i really hope this isn’t the last one he makes ’cause it’d be incredibly depressing if it was, he did say that he’d buy an experienced player so lets hope he keeps to his word
July 30, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Diaby is good partnership with Fabragas
July 30, 2008 at 5:47 pm
Trust me Lew, that is our last signing for the season. Bischoff is it!!! Arsene Wenger has always had a big nose and with some of the severe porkies he’s been telling us about buying players, He’s in danger of it growing out of all control. Its time for Wenger to FUCK OFF!!!!!
July 30, 2008 at 5:48 pm
diaby is due a good run in the team, and since wenger doesnt seem to be spashig the cash on an experianced midfielder then i guess we are stuck with what we have
July 30, 2008 at 5:57 pm
David you must be spurs fan to come on hear and say something like that, shame on you !!!
July 30, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Out of the squad we have, it has to be Song as first choice, then, Djourou, then Ramsey. Diaby and Denilson are not defensive midfielders.
We need new Petit, not new Paddy.
July 30, 2008 at 6:01 pm
it will be diaby. He is the most experienced out of that list and has the most ability and while Denilson is no doubt a huge talent we cannot play him with Cesc at this moment in time as he is a carbon copy of cesc. All Diaby needs now is a run in the team and he will become world class. Just a quick mention, one name that was missed out on the article was Djourou. He has stated several times that his favourite position is holding midfield and has also stated that Wenger reckons he will end up there. With Cesc obviously playing week in week out he would also provide an excellent balance like Flamini did last year although I would put a lot of money on Diaby for next season.
July 30, 2008 at 6:02 pm
David,
I think you should go and fuck off and support tottenham(or do you already)
You are an ignorant fool who is either a spoilt pric or cant see that Wenger is a bloody genius who does it season after season against teams spending un told millions!!!!!
Grow up and get behind the team!
July 30, 2008 at 6:04 pm
he is not interested in an exp midfielder otherwise y should he sell gilberto….he wants quick free flowing football…he will buy another utility player who can play in midfield or defence just like lasanna diarra.i would be happy if he signed Given THAT WOULD ENSURE OUR DEFENCE IS solid with almunia it looks very porous
July 30, 2008 at 6:12 pm
@David and twats like him: in every forum lately there’s at least one prick whos either a spud or knows nothing of The Arsenal: how dare you suddenly turn your back on AW (if you indeed call yourself a gooner)? ARE YOU INSANE? we would be NOTHING without Wenger. fact. If he left tomorrow it would be like losing all of our past and present legends all over again at the same time.. For fuck sake he bloody MADE half of them!
July 30, 2008 at 6:19 pm
hmm i think arsene is in a trcky situation he dosent want to go against his philosopy of developing young talent , but he knows expereience is wat the side needs. i think hes going to premote diaby and buy veloso personally !
out of the blue if arsene ever retires frm arsenalcan i be the the first in saying marco van basten 4 manager any?
July 30, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Thanks for all your advice, I am not a spud but an Arsenal season ticket holder and suporter for more than 30 years. I however cannot sit here and watch our club being downgraded by an arrogant short sighted twat like Wenger who after becoming a legend at Arsenal and transforming the football played at the club has decided to sit on his laurels and become a feeder club for the Clubs we should be dominating in Europe. You all need to wake up and smell the coffee, not look at Wenger with rose coloured spectacles. At the end of last season he conceded that we were weak in defense and experience??!!!!!! We have lost both in midfield and are left with Senderos and Djourou as back up in defense!!!! Is that good enough for our club. Wake up you mugs!!!!!
July 30, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Who do Chelsea have in back up for John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho? hmm Alex? he didnt exactly do amazing last year and theyve just sold Ben Haim so they dont exactly have great depth at CB. Man utd who do they have as back up to Rio and Vidic? Brown? hes not good enough for CB and the only other guys they have who can play there are youths so how do we have less depth there than them? huh? lol OWNED
July 30, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Tribe toure underboss –
Eboué just started central midfield against Stuttgart.. Nooooo!!
July 30, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Based on Wenger’s comments about the Bischoff signing, it’s clear that he’s not the experienced player that he said he would sign. Wenger clearly states he’s another one for the future and that he will be given as much time as he needs to adapt to the Arsenal style of play in the reserves. In other words, there’s another signing(s) to come.
July 30, 2008 at 7:20 pm
How the f*ck caN you put Bischoff in that list?
Then state if an experienced midfielder is signed, either Diaby or Denilson WILL be signed.
You aint Arsenal.com, get over your self fella!
That is your opinion, not fact.
July 30, 2008 at 7:24 pm
David;
You lost ALL validity with comments like, wake up and smell the coffee and rose tinted specs.
ANYONE who used phrases like that is a c*nt.
You chat shite and obviously get your opinions from tabloid headlines. Your a hacks dream; a media fed sheep,
July 30, 2008 at 8:16 pm
God Dwayne, you have the audacity to call me a cunt with a name like that, you fucking retard!!! I’m afraid we have no choice as far as information goes as you can’t believe a word that gallic cunt says. If you insist in trusting the french twat, thats up to you.
July 30, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Did u watch today………eboue started as a dm….No creativity so negative, thank gooness aserne brought the young players whp penetrated the stugut defence.Wilshire and vela are something else
July 30, 2008 at 8:31 pm
What do you mean trust the french twat?
As if he is trying to wreck the club or something? Dick head. The fella is stubborn and has his faults, but to slate him like that, you really are a sad twat.
I feel sorry for you, being that angry, frustrtated when a competitive ball aint been kicked.
You really need to get out more.
July 30, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Dwayne Dibbly was the Cat’s geeky alter-ego in Red Dwarf, so I’m guessing that’s not his real name…
No offence if it is your real name though mate!
July 30, 2008 at 8:35 pm
AK; None taken, clever clogs!
David;
If we don’t sign at least one experienced player, then I might be as warped as you come August 31st. BUT I expect that French twat to buy those players we need.
July 30, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Having just watched the Stuttgart game I don’t think we have too much to worry about for the future – there’s some real talent in our ranks. Thought Vela was great, as was Bendtner and Ramsey looks like he’s been in the first team for ages. And Wilshere at 16, just to come on in front of 50-odd thousand people in a foreign country and play like he did is pretty amazing to me!
Problem is, short-term I don’t think there’s enough experience in midfield to compete for a trophy (hope I’m wrong) so IF Wenger’s got any money to spend we need an older central mid with a winning mentality. Let’s hope he’s got the money. and he’s not too stubborn to bring someone ‘old’ in!
July 30, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I dont know, I think Diaby but he aint the best defensively, maybe another signing on the way? I have a feeling Diaby may be used as a Fabregas back up cause its hard to place Diaby in a position that I have hardly seen him play. The guy loves taking on players and that may leaves holes in our midfield. It will be interesting to see who lines up in the Amsterdam and Emirates tournaments. That would be a big hint on who Wenger favours
July 31, 2008 at 5:54 am
Dywayne Dibbly,
Obviously this is not Arsenal.com as its called Gooner Talk. so, here its all fans opinions. Like any other article out there which are merely opinions unless its reviewing a match stats or spilling out transfer details. However, you are free to comment on the article even if you want to criticise it.
Cheers
July 31, 2008 at 8:48 am
David, go support the spuds. You aint for real. Wenger is the only thing keeping Arsenal in the top four given the constraints borne on him by the board.
July 31, 2008 at 1:45 pm
To be honest David your the only twat who hates Wenger here while you say your a Gooner. If you was a Gooner you would have all faith in Wenger like the rest of us do here.To be honest your just a fucking prick from the Shite Hart Lane.CUNT!!
July 31, 2008 at 4:31 pm
I dont think there is anyone proven that should play next to him..
All the players listed are on the same boat.. We need somone else in that position & i think barry would be perfect.
1. he’s a leader 2.he’s not a player who’s in the limelight everday 3. he’s english.
