Barcelona will wrap up a deal for Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb later this evening as the Belarussian puts the finishing touches to his reported 3-year deal with the Spanish giants.
Hleb, 27, has already undergone his a medical before putting pen to paper to become Barca’s sixth signing of the summer.
The Catalan outfit have already signed Sevilla duo Dani Alves and Keita, former Manchester United defender Gerald Pique, Martin Caceres from Villarreal and Henrique from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras.
“I am fulfilling a dream,” Hleb told Barca TV earlier this afternoon.
“I have spoken to (coach) Pep Guardiola and it is very important that he wants me at the club. I will do my best for this team. I want to win everything with Barca.”
“I can’t really say what kind of a player I am, but I give everything out on the pitch, but I would prefer it if the coach spoke about me,” he said.
The right-winger joined Arsenal in 2005 from German side Vfb Stuttgart, signing a four-year contract, after the club paid £10.2m for his services.

I saw Sky Spots News show his stats earlier today and they say we’re better off without him and I agree. He got 10 assists in 70 games for us (6 last season). Thank jesus he’s gone. Prick saying it’s his dream to go to Barca. We’ll see how the fans take to him when he NEVER FUCKIN shoots. Nasri to become the new Pires for us.

N’Zogbia would be more worthwhile than Hleb. I hope we see some signings in the next week or two. Wouldn’t Van Der Vaart be a super signing. Also it looks like Barca or no one for Ade. It’s like Drogba they want to leave but nobody wants them.

He shined at Arsenal because it fitted his style of play. He is one of the most intelligent attacking midfielders. But, if his heart is not with the gunners then I say good riddance and may he live to regret his decision, on the bench, alongside Henry!

Bit harsh everyone. Stats don’t tell the whole story. Hleb may only have assisted 6 goals directly last season but was heavily involved in build up and his cleverness and trickery created opportunities for others. Although i’m with you on the fact he’s going for the money, Wenger must be tearing his hair out on our wage structure, we just can’t keep our best players!

He was one of our best players last season, better then Ade, almost every game he created a spark. Sad to see him go but if he aint happy we are better off without him. Whts going to happen to Ade, Milan have signed the sea horse so not interested anymore. Funny that, they built up Ade’s hopes! Barca on a bit of a spending spree so if they dont go for him then Ade going to look a bit of a fool aint he. expect a signing soon otherwise with Gilberto, Hleb and posssibly Ade ll going in the same week without a single signing in between will have the critics on us like vultures

doesn’t anyone appreciate that to win the PL we need a wide player who can net 15+ goals and offer 10+ assists in a season? think back to the last times we won the league… think Pires, think Overmars and if you’re an old codger like me, go back and think Anders Limpar and Brian Marwood…. history doesn’t lie… every time we’ve won the league, we’ve had a quality wide player in the team and unfortunately, 10 goals in three years and very few assists is not enough, no matter how “everybody cut loose…” Hleb’s feet were… bring Arshavin in I say…

true gunner, diego and van der vaart are both central attacking mids. thats not what we need, we need a winger. lets assume wenger sticks to his word and plays walcott and vela as strikers, that leaves us with rosicky and eboue (right wing) and nasri (left wing) so really we need at least another left winger, and probably another right winger as well so eboue can bugger off, lol. arshavin is a right winger so that purchase is more unlikely than someone like silva.
