Former Arsenal Starlet Wants Premier League Return

July 10, 2008

Former Arsenal forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is hoping to get another chance at playing in the English Premiership, having previously spent four years at the north London side.

The Ghanaian international, who has just finished a loan spell at Celta Vigo from Spartak Moscow, has been rumored to be interesting French side Olympic Lyonnais.

But Quincy seems to be more interested in returning to the English Premiership, as reports from kickoffghana.com suggest that he is currently in the land of the three lions seeking for an English club side.

“If I get the chance to get in the Premiership, I will do everything to prove myself,” he affirmed.

“I have been in Russia and played a couple of Champions League games. I have been in Spain where the Segunda is not La Liga but I think you can get great experience playing there.

“I have played at the Africa cup of nations alongside players like Essien and Muntari and I think I am experienced now. I am matured and think it is the right now to come back to the Premiership.”

Owusu-Abeyie, who played for the Dutch U-20 team at the 2005 World Youth Championship, believes he was not given the necessary opportunity to express himself at Highbury by Arsene Wenger, and seeks a second chance.

“I have got something to prove to myself as well. I thought I didn’t really get the chance to prove myself in my first spell but if I get the chance again I will put my life into it,” he concluded.

His performances in an Arsenal shirt were inconsistent, but I personally believe he will carve out a fantastic career for himself at another Prem side in the near future. Watch out for Quincy – he’s back.

  1. Joe Todd Says:

Wonder who will pick him up, Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle? Doubt we’ll have him back though.

  2. Gooner Chris Says:

Probably mate, I can’t see him re-joining Arsenal even though it would seem a very interesting acquistion.

  3. blake Says:

i think he should go 2 a mid table team lik middlesborough or even da liks of newcastle everton ect

  4. GunnerRashidinho Says:

We should get him back. Angel Di Maria too. I mean you cant get worse than Eboue.

  5. Spike Says:

I think he’d struggle to get a game with Hull IMO.

  6. jlp Says:

kinda funny his name would enter the melee as adebayor looks set to leave,as i recall he was onto spartak when walcott and ade were signed not leaving him a whole lotta options

  7. Goonbrother Says:

Have any of you’s noticed the much similarity that Boro are trying to achieve to The Arsenal, thing is when we buy cheap players we turn them into stars can’t see buck tooth southgate doin that.

  8. Topgunwenger Says:

In the case of the retransfer of the former players Sidwell, Bentley and Quincy are Arsenal in line for a cash windfalls ?

  9. Quick answer, no. had Sidwell left Reading for a fee we may have got something. Bentley has played for one club too many, Quincy I’m not sure.

  10. Spike Says:

Yep, we’ll get about a quarter of the bentley fee when he finally goes.

So the spuds may be giving us about £4 million if he goes there!

  11. aladin Says:

rashidinho we never had di maria in the first place, and most of ur comments made are absurd, wud u rather play quincy ahead of eboue, lets be realistic out here.

  12. AFC'S TURNING ME GREY Ricky Says:

Bring him back, We need watever we can get right now.. We probably cant afford him aswell

  13. Marko Says:

I thought he was alright, very fast and skillful but a bit light weight and inconsistent but I think he could move to a Portsmouth or Wigan and do well for them.

  14. Duck Says:

Self Marketing Plan. If he was really good, I doubt he would have gone to Spartak Moscow but probably would have been bought by an English EPL club when he was made available in Arsenal.

Well, who knows? Maybe one of the newly promoted clubs may want to give him a try. Certainly not any mid table clubs and above.

  15. RuudTheDiver Says:

Wenger once said that he is never going to take players back, it’s part of his policy/philosophy and he has proved that so far, so you might as well forget all about former players coming back.

  16. DL Says:

Daily Star say we sign nasri yesterday???

  17. DL Says:

“Meanwhile Hleb is set to sign for Barcelona in the next 24 hours after dashing away from the Arsenal training ground yesterday.

It means major changes at the Emirates with Arsenal finally wrapping up a deal for Samir Nasri yesterday, Mathieu Flamini already signed by Milan and Gilberto linked with a surprise move to Greek club Panathinaikos.”

  18. Duck Says:

I am still lost in why are we doing player replacement rather than building up the squad. I think there are no links between Nasri’s arrival in whether or not Hleb is leaving.

Remember, we are building, not replacing.

  19. moz Says:

    SAMIR NASRI_ FINALLLY

  20. JohnV Says:

This should finally shut up the doom mongers among our supporters as Nasri is a quality player and with Ramsey and Vela also joined Arsenal have a good squad for next season. If Ade and Hleb stay thats good but if they dont people seem to think we will just keep the money and buy no one how stupid they are. Hleb may not be replaced but i am sure that Adebayor would be. Also remember the doom mongering last season with the lose of our best ever player and Arsenal only ended up 4 points behind United all Arsenal had to do last season was to beat United and the title would have been ours.

  21. Daniel Says:

    YEEEEEEES SAMIR

  22. Adebyeor Says:

Well done Nas, you legend! :D Good news at last!

  23. Ricky Says:

Ahh so what… Bring in another 3- 4 players then i’ll be happy..

Good to see him finnaly arive but it means nothing if all the players that are linked with moves leave.

We need to strenghen the squad not replace.

  24. rebel gooner Says:

bout time that was announced,, as for quincy well he had the potenial but went a bit awol off the field so wenger got him out,, would do a job for some mid table team as he always looked good

  25. gooner KB Says:

im on about tottenham lads lol
