According to several Sunday newspapers, Arsenal are one of three Premier League sides to of enquired about the availability of Real Madrid’s Ruben de la Red.
The 23-year-old is reportedly interested in a move to the club as well as Aston Villa and the Gunners’ bitter rivals Tottenham.
Real sold de la Red to neighbours Getafe last summer for £2.4m but exercised their option to bring de la Red back to the Berbanbeu for £3.6m just 12 months later. Real now rate the 23-year-old at around £15m.
I personally find it interested to see us linked with another defensive midfielder. De la Red is a highly rated youngster, but with the high price-tag, he could potentially prove a risk.

Is there a vid of him anywhere.
July 7, 2008 at 3:46 pm
i’ll post one up now.
July 7, 2008 at 3:47 pm
15 mil sounds more like an English player’s price tag.
July 7, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Hmm, competing with Sp*rs and Villa, bit sad.
July 7, 2008 at 3:54 pm
I heard Real value him at around £10m, but the competition could push it up to £15m. Who knows but I think it is worth a bid.
July 7, 2008 at 3:55 pm
wayyy to epensive if he is worth around 15 Million… 7 or 8 would be just fine !! But not a single penny over it
July 7, 2008 at 3:55 pm
i’d take him for 7-8m.. 15 is pushing it
but if crouchinho is worth 11 and jo is worth 19 i’m thinking my wenger influenced pricing may be off by a bit
if we are really interested, i’m sure spurs will bid 20m.. frickin yids

Offer 7 with reasonable wages, let him choose where he wants to play his football.
July 7, 2008 at 3:59 pm
according to 3 papers who talk nothing but shit
July 7, 2008 at 4:01 pm
wenger is looking for midfielder but not at that price ,however i think that just keep there player saying is not for sale, but is realy wants to leave he is going, but the lost wenger pay 5 mill or he looking towrads his reserves and promote from within
July 7, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Yeah, good thing is that the manager seems to be still in the market to find someone to replace Flamster.
July 7, 2008 at 4:16 pm
What about Bischoff?
July 7, 2008 at 4:20 pm
what we need is a takeover who can give wenger the financial backing he requires, this will allow us to get arshavin or villa, and keep our big names and offer the wages they wont. I hate to say it but at the moment we are competing wid and being outspent by the fckin YIDS. we need striker-arshavin/villa/martins…..winger-nasri……defensive midfeilder, solid center back and a goalie
July 7, 2008 at 4:20 pm
yes i agree bischoff cld be our man
July 7, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Bischoff has hardly played a game for the first team at Bremen. Add that to him being injury prone and I think you are asking for trouble. DM is one of the most important spots on the pitch and if we don’t treat it as such we will get walked over this season. I personally think we will see Gilberto in the middle. Hardly my first choice but I just can’t see us spending the money to bring in Veloso or De La Red or anyone else. But then again, crazier things have happened in football.
July 7, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Bischoff will join, but I can see this turning into he ‘Nasri’ sort of transfer. If things go well, it will be announced as a double signing.
July 7, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Crazier things have happend but not as crazy as wenger spending on players we actually need.
BISCHOFF CAN FUCKOFF!! Theres been no news of anybody else interested in this guy & theres still no proof that he is worth buying..
Its a shot in the dark that could turn out very imbarrasing.
July 7, 2008 at 5:05 pm
What about biscoff???
LOL!! Are ppl actually looking forward to him joining us? coz i feel imbarrased to even mention he’s name to my pals who supprt other teams..
IMO bishoff can pissoff & i can reaaly see him being another stephanovs/luznhy/senderos but maybe he’ll play less then they did as he’s always injured.
July 7, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Who cares if Spurs outspend us? Just makes it even funnier when we finish 30 points in front of them. A starting 11 like below is still going to cost Spurs another 100m to even compete with over the course of a season.
Almunia
Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy
Nasri Fab4 Diaby Rosicky
Adebayor Van Persie
Subs
Fabianski
Senderos Djorou Song
Walcott Gilberto Denilson Vela
Bendtner Eduardo
Even with their spending they tend to buy players who have big names but not a lot of substance. Lets see how Dos Santos turns out. My money is on Vela to be the better of the two.
July 7, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Neil;
Put Theo in RM and Nasri on the left (Tomas won’t be fit for the start of the season obviously!) and we are rocking fella!
We fell down last season coz we had a wafer thin squad; injuries to RvP, Rosicky, Sagna, Eduardo, not to mention the ACN meant we were relying on the same players or inferior squad players to see us thru.
A few quality additions are whats needed; a CB and a winger IF Ade & Hleb stay, if they don’t we need more obviously.
July 7, 2008 at 5:24 pm
No way takeover, no way! I think it’s better if there’s debt because of the stadium rather than owe money to some billionere who doesn’t know a thing about Arsenal or football.
July 7, 2008 at 5:25 pm
If we keep on doing how we’re doing at the moment, just think about the day when stadium is paid back.
July 7, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Anyone calling for a takeover is deluding themselves it is whats best for the club in the long term.
All these take overs will go tits up eventually IF they continue to spend without covering their outlay.
Even the Chavs with their sugar daddy could be bankrupted if they are made to keep withihn their natural budget.
July 7, 2008 at 6:31 pm
players who only go for the highest bid are not the ones we need. red is good but not great and that means 10 mil is excessive, 15 forget it. players who want to play w/ afc and are great players are the ones. watched vela the other day(old game v real madrid), vela gave sergio ramos all he could handle, you could tell ramos was getting upset and starting to fly into tackles because keeping track of vela didn’t allow him to go forward as much as he likes.
July 7, 2008 at 9:40 pm
So Madrid buy him back for £3million and then want to sell him for £15million hmm sounds like a Spud signing to me!It is also thought that Miguel Veloso would be allowed to leave for around £15million.
July 8, 2008 at 12:24 am
Would be a good signing for us he’s really tenasious, a real battler like Flamini but not quite as fast. I’d say we could get him for between 8-10 mill and he’d keep Cesc happy to be playing with a fellow Spaniard.
July 8, 2008 at 11:10 am
15 mill is too much for a defensive midfielder
July 8, 2008 at 12:54 pm
Highly unlikely he will sign. Is a class player and Madrid will want to keep him as they are looking for a central midfielder who can dominate matches. Not there yet but will put his foot in.
July 8, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Madrid have Diarra, Gago, Guti and brought back Javi Garcia who all play in the same position as De La Red so it’s likely they would sell him.
