Nasri’s Website Apologise For ‘Jumping The Gun’

June 24, 2008

The website of Marseille star Samir Nasri have apologised for ‘jumping the gun’ and wrongly confirming the Frenchman’s move from Marseille to Arsenal.

It had been reported on the Nasri’s personal website, via a statement subsequently removed, that Arsenal had secured Nasri’s services for a fee of €20million (£15.8million).

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his admiration for the French schemer but it would appear talk of a deal for the 20-year-old having been struck is somewhat premature.

Marseille spokeswoman Nathalie Paoli said ‘the deal still has to be finalised between Arsenal and Olympique Marseille’, and now the player’s agent has moved to clarify the situation.

A statement read on SamirNasri.fr:

“We’re sorry to have acted hastily in announcing that Samir had signed a contract with Arsenal, as Samir is still under contract with Olympique de Marseille so far,” said the website adminstrator rumoured to be the 20-year-old’s Dad

Last season he scored six goals in 30 games for the French outfit, his final strike in a 4-3 win over Strasbourg helping secure Marseille’s berth in next season’s Champions League.

Speaking about the player earlier this month, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said:

“His whole future is ahead of him and he has (quite) a margin for progressing further.

“He has, in any case, the qualities needed to assert himself at the highest level.”

Nasri could be a replacement for Alexander Hleb, whose future remains uncertain after he held talks over a possible move to Barcelona.

Wenger has already lost midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who joined AC Milan on a free transfer, while striker Emmanuel Adebayor remains a target for the Italian giants.

Good one mate, unlike some sites who didn’t bother withdrawing / apologizing.

    Cheers!

  2. bergy Says:

any update on when it might happen?

  3. hente Says:

I’m the DADDY, heh, getting to my nerves.

  4. Gooner Chris Says:

Young Guns seem to think it’s happening today, not too sure about that though. My bet is the end of the week..

  5. duck Says:

I think we previously saw news on a reported 11-13 mil deal, but latest reports suggest 15 mil. Perhaps some negotiations going on there?

  6. Me Says:

Perhaps his father letting loose the news on samir’s website will now hurry things along.

  7. Tino Says:

I say young Guns is getting on my Nerves as well!!!
Next time I will wait on Arsenal.com how ever long they are going to take!?!

  8. Chrissie Greeno Says:

Calm down dear – be patient it will come soon

  9. Alex Hleb Says:

Young Guns always chat shit that isnt true, they claim he was signing today, where is it??

  10. joetodd Says:

    Forgodsake

  11. bergy Says:

if someone can translate…but it does sound like the deal hasnt been agreed yet.clubs are still talking.
alot of webistes where wrong in saying that a deal has been completed…

  12. AvP Says:

Soon, he shall come to Arsenal, we just never announce signings until its 110% complete, and thats the way it should be

  13. Bubble Bill Says:

That fool at young guns is full of crap. I’ll throw that info in for free with the fact that i gave everyone yesterday that it’d take longer for his medical because they have to wait for test results on his ankle.

  14. Didrik Says:

Since you English always talk in £ of course there will be figures mixed up. The “15″ is € which neatly translates to the 11-13 in £. Some people don’t read the currency too closely is my (well educated) guess. The rest of continental Europe deals in €, so the “official price” for a player playing there will be in Euros, not Pounds.

  15. Chrissie Greeno Says:

What would that be in $US ?

  16. FrankGooner Says:

Young Guns is a website full of lies. Everyone should boycott it.

  17. Didrik Says:

Even more. €15 is roughly £12 and US $23.
Type “currency converter” into any search engine…

  18. hente Says:

So maybe we should try and lure David Beckham to Arsenal.. to play, not to train. You know, as the dollar is so low at the moment.

  19. Tonto Says:

Just translated what it now says on Nasri’s website and the last paragraph says “An interview of Samir will be in the news here even as of the 1st July”.
Possibly means the transfer will be announced then? That’s just after Euro 2008 finishes, which would tie up with what Wenger said…

  20. imtiaz wookay Says:

Young Guns is one of da best Arsenal sites around!
so Didrik + co can go sit on their thumbs! Even Nasri’s official site got it wrong so u can hardly blame a 16 year old whose blogs are always top notch!.

  21. Chrissie Greeno Says:

What would that be in Elven Florins ?

  22. Chrissie Greeno Says:

Young Guns is on the whole excellent. I also get much joy from this site – they are my 2 favourites !!

  23. Chrissie Greeno Says:

Thanks to Gooner Chris and J.

  24. Gooner Chris Says:

Young Guns is a quality site, surprised people going against it. Sanderson links to his sources, so you can’t accuse him of being a liar.

  25. J.A.F.O Says:

I agree with regard to ‘Young Guns’, from the little I’ve read it’s always appeared factual and well produced.

As for Nasri, surley the whole epic saga can’t possibly go on any further, can it? I’m sure it’s only a matter of time, barring some unexpected act of god – which wouldn’t suprise me.

  26. Bollywood John Says:

I put it to the Young Guns sympathysers that they are the same person.

He’s full of sh*t and acts like he knows more information than he actually does.

He reads articles; makes up assumptions and publishes them. I’ve read plenty of articles of someone apparently coming to Arsenal and then they don’t come.

Mesut Ozil was one of them. Got my hopes up for nothing.

  27. no need Says:

AM TIRED OF ALL THIS RUBBISH MOST ARSENAL SIGN THIS GUY PLEASE LET SOME ONE PUT ME TO LIGHT, IS ARSENAL GOING TO SIGN HIM OR NOT?
WHY IS IT THAT WHENEVER ARSENAL WANT TO SIGN A PLAYER IT TAKE SO LONG TO COM TO PASS, AM TIRED OF THIS COACH CALLED WENGER SO VERY PASSIVE AND INACTIVE.

  28. V Says:

Young Guns is Shit???? Are you crazy? The guy writes quality articles, has a better knowledge abouth the reserves thatn any other Arsenal site. You guys who are slating it, need to fix up n look sharp!!! Wasters! (FrankGooner, Bubble Bill, Alex Hleb etc) Bunch of idiots!

  29. Sue Says:

    29. no need.

We were all tired of the saga but if you had read the above article properly you would have found out its already a done deal.

So you’re tired of Arsene – well he’s probably tired with stupid people coming out with stupid comments about him
