Arsenal have announced the squad numbers the players will wear on their shirts next season. The immediate one to stand out is Manuel Almunia taking over the Number 1 shirt, as Jens Lehmann has moved to pastures new.
Teenager Aaron Ramsey, the £5m purchase from Cardiff City takes the Number 16 shirt, and interestingly the Number 8 remains vacant, fuelling the speculation regarding the pending arrival of Samir Nasri.

Yeah, I have already read this story, but unfortunately the Arsenal hasn’t confirmed yet. Perhaps after the Euros, because I have read a story at The Sun that Arséne Wenger isn’t in London, he is at the EC.

Yep, he will continue doing co-commentating for Al Jazeera until the Euros end.

Then we must see the Al Jazeera, perhaps Wenger will tell something them.
But I remember for the first time, the commentator was asking about Nasri, while Wenger was smiling. And if I know well, Nasri is on a three-week holiday which started on today…

I have heard from a good source that Nasri has failed his medical due to complications with his ankle or something. He’ll be seen by a specialist in about 3 weeks when Arsenal will finally decide if they want him or not.

I hope bubble bill is giving us his moribund humor because it seems otherwise we have signed him.

BUBBLE BILL you trying to burst ours?
June 23, 2008 at 4:34 pm
He has signed – 2pm tommorow will confirm it. he has also sortedout his temporary home. a flat owned by Arsenal in Finchley – he will wear number 8 .
may well be a double signing announcement with ETO agreeing a three year deal that will see Ade leave for £15m plus Eto – scuppering Milans plans – what a shame
also leaving Arsenal will be Hleb and Justin Hoyte – Lansbury will go on loan to Reading for Season and Jamie Harper will leave Reading.
Tottenham will still be crap but spend another £20m proving it
thats all for now

I know squad numbers dont really mean a lot but where are the names of Gibbs, Randell, Merida and Barazite all of whom where suppose to be in and around the first team next season.
June 23, 2008 at 4:50 pm
To be honest, I’m more concerned with the fact that Fran Merida did not yet receive a first-team number.
Any news on that lately?
