Earlier this afternoon, Raymond Domenech’s ’self-destructive’ France side left their Euro2008 Geneva-based Marriot hotel and boarded a plane from Switzerland back to France.
The whole squad reported to coach Domenech who gave his side a debriefing before wishing his team a restful holiday.
One of the players to board that plane was Marseille midfielder Samir Nasri. The 20-year-old is one of many stars to of been consistently linked with the Gunners during this busy summer period.
Gooner Talk brought you the first piece of news related to the Frenchman almost two months ago. Reports emulating this evening in France though, claim that Nasri is set to wrap up his Arsenal transfer in the coming days after France’ recent departure from the European Championships.
Ideally, the signing should be completed during next week, so he has time to sort out his housing and such before going on a well-earned holiday.
Your Thoughts Guys?

If it happens, good stuff. He should fit in well, but until he does sign, it’s a case of fingers crossed. And I trust Arsene to deliver yet another quality signing from his homeland.
June 18, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Crap!! Coul be on a plane to Botswana
June 18, 2008 at 6:00 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Yeah right. Wanna see it on arsenal.com.
All these stupid transfer rumours…
June 18, 2008 at 6:05 pm
heheh this is getting out of hand, next week its gonna be “NASRI WALKS DOWN THE ROAD! is he closer to signing? is he on his way now to sign? whats your view?”
Leave it be, let it take its course. The speculation is mind numbing not to mention frustrating as hell, If he signs great! but we wont know untill its official (either AW saying so or him holding a damn arsenal shirt with his name on it, in the stadium, with wenger and the pen he signed his frigging contract with still in his fecking hand.)
June 18, 2008 at 6:05 pm
“The 20-year-old is one of many stars to of been consistently linked with the Gunners during this busy summer period.”
Well, this period has hardly been busy………
June 18, 2008 at 6:06 pm
It has for many football fans mate.
June 18, 2008 at 6:06 pm
Which one is he ? The grumpy guy with the grey hair or the bald guy standing behind the young school lad (who looks excited about his first aeroplane flight) ?
June 18, 2008 at 6:06 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:07 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:08 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:09 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:12 pm

June 18, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Poor little Samir. Stroke his little head and kiss his forehead. I would rather buy a normal defensive midfielder.
June 18, 2008 at 6:27 pm
By the looks of the lad I don’t think he’ll get a sponsorship from Gillette ? Looking forward to seeing him in our colours !
June 18, 2008 at 6:29 pm
What would they need debriefing from Domenech for?
What possible good words could that chump have? lol
That’s what happens when you pick inferior full backs, a central defender who’s already collecting his pension, a rubbish midfield comprising of two defensive midfielders (one of them aged so badly that he can’t put a pass right) and also consisting of the worst player of the tournament in Malouda and then a strike force of Mr 60 million dollar overrated man Benzema.
June 18, 2008 at 6:36 pm
he looks about 12 lol
any1 seen him on cribs @ cisses house ? look even younger
June 18, 2008 at 6:41 pm
There gotta be some kind of pre-contract made between Arsenal and Nasri. He will leave Marseille, that’s for sure, so if there isn’t pre-contract, why there’s no other clubs linked to him (well, apart from that one little article about atletico madrid being interested only them to hear that he’s already don pre-contract). All we can do now is to wait the deal to be officially announced. End of story.
June 18, 2008 at 6:46 pm
NASRI’S GOING CHELSEA BY ALL ACCOUNTS
June 18, 2008 at 7:08 pm
he is shit benzimes the 1

Nasri agrees contract…? But it’s “BBC Understands”
June 18, 2008 at 7:19 pm
well thats P towns comment gone to shit !
June 18, 2008 at 7:20 pm
it’s the end of the remours about Nasri , Arsenal.com tomorrow will made it 100% after bbc close the case by saying Nasri Agrees
now we have very good times to search for another good 2 players , and i hope wenger change his mind by bringing a new deffender and new deffencive center mid
June 18, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Yes I saw that too Nasri Agrees Contract on BBC sport, maybe now were going to get somewhere
June 18, 2008 at 7:23 pm
And if I may this Albiol story will gather a bit of pace too, I think this could be an outside bet on coming off!! More so than most cos he’s no worse than some of the ones mentioned but cheaper!!
June 18, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Albiols agent has said we’re not interested in him which is a shame as he can play in both positions that we need – dm and cb!
June 18, 2008 at 7:40 pm
I think the official announce will be after the Euro.
June 18, 2008 at 7:42 pm
i hear his contract includes a buy out clause of 12m. chelsea or madrid next summer anyone????????????????????
June 18, 2008 at 7:46 pm
What a load of bollocks.
June 18, 2008 at 7:47 pm
thats marseilles release clause – not arsenals! we’re not that stupid!
June 18, 2008 at 7:47 pm
He has a buy out clause of £13.5 mill. We’ve activated that clause, Nasri’s agreed terms and is set to complete his move today or tomorrow.
June 18, 2008 at 7:48 pm
gooner chris, have arsenal confirmed the signing of Francis Coquelin? Nothing was ever confirmed…
June 18, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I think that means his contract with marseille. Not Arsenal
June 18, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Why do you think it would happen so soon Gooner Chris? Arshavin showing his class again
June 18, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Maybe i’m jumping the gun a little bit, I still think it will be completed by Friday next week at the LATEST.
Coquelin is practically an unknown in France whereas Nasri is already an household name.
June 18, 2008 at 7:59 pm
every blog ive read claimed to have been first to deliver the nasri deal 2 months ago, so hu actually found out first ?
June 18, 2008 at 8:01 pm
I’m expecting it to be completed soon if it is completed at all though, anybody think there is any truth to the rumours regaurding Albiol?
June 18, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I was informed by a mate of mine who told me about Nasri agreeing the contract. And yes, I was the first blogger to post it as far as I know. Young Guns, Setanta etc followed shortly after.
June 18, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Who’s next? we should be asking! Is Hleb ctually going or is he in Hawaii buming his agent and whoever said his jacket is nice must be a bird or gay!
June 18, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Albiol?
Not really, I find it hard to see him coming if his agent says we’re not interested in him. I rate him though, a fantastic defender. I’d like to see Ruben de la Red come in though, he’s an extremely versatile player, very comfortable on the ball as well.
June 18, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Talking of De La Red…
June 18, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Is he a reliable source Chris? Agonnered, Gooner Talk was definately first to break the news
June 18, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I did read about it last year in Wikpedia someone had edited it saying we had a pre agreed deal with Nasri, sorry Gooner Chris
June 18, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Quilon, the agent of Albiol is surprisingly well-respected in the footballing world. I’d say what he’s saying is reliable.. yep
June 18, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Coincidence
I haven’t seen much of De La Red, could he replace Flam? Is he similar in style? His agent didn’t say we aren’t interested he just said he hadn’t been contacted
June 18, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Yep, and he has the mentality of Flam as well. He can also play centre back which is another bonus!
June 18, 2008 at 8:16 pm
I think Nasri and Ramsey will be our only two signings. Not really enough.
June 18, 2008 at 8:20 pm
I’ve heard we could get him for around 7 mill, he looks like a better natural footballer than Flamini, more comfortable on the ball
June 18, 2008 at 8:20 pm
lol De La Red is an attacking midfielder folks i watched him at Getafe last year and those who dont know much about him he’s playing for spain now and he scored there goal.
June 18, 2008 at 8:21 pm
i dont think we’ll be seeing him at centre back if he comes
June 18, 2008 at 8:22 pm
If we brought in a commanding 6′ + quality CB could he play alongside Gallas and push Toure forward into a DM role or would it take too long for him to adapt ?
June 18, 2008 at 8:22 pm
I know its not very reliable but according to soccer manager he is a CM/DM
June 18, 2008 at 8:24 pm
He is.
but like i said. he’s a versatile player who has been used at cb whilst at madrid castilla.
June 18, 2008 at 8:24 pm
I love Kolo but he aint cut out for a midfield role, he hasnt got the stamina, he might have a decent shot but its never on target and he can be very headless at times
June 18, 2008 at 8:32 pm
He is what? A DM or AM?
June 18, 2008 at 8:34 pm
he is a changed player now and wont be used as a CB. he could play the flamini role and do it very well but i dont thin wenger will sign him tbh. he will sign some more stupid youngsters and no CB, no ST no nothing
TYPICAL :-@
June 18, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I’d say DM, but his role for Spain this evening looked like more of an AM role.
June 18, 2008 at 8:36 pm
I don’t think we need a striker JamJam, if we get Nasri we just need a DM and CB but wether we get them or not is another matter
June 18, 2008 at 8:38 pm
I think that was just because Alonso played
June 18, 2008 at 8:42 pm
RVP we do need another striker because what happens if Adebayor and V.Persie get injured and Eduardo isnt fit whos gna score the goals? Bendtner? Walcott? Vela? as good young players they are i just dont see many goals coming from them tbh so i feel we need 1 real goal scorer at the club even if its a season long loan
June 18, 2008 at 9:01 pm
well considering that Bendtner has 5goals in his last 7 internationals and a goal every other start for Arsenal a long with an assist every other game i think we shouldnt worry to much. Also Theo scored 4-5 goals near the need of the season and Vela has scored 2 goals in his last 2 Internationals. So no JamJam we deff do not need anymore strikers. Also no DM is needed Gilberto can play that role well enough and if Diaby stays fit he’ll be great there as an insider said at Arsenal Diaby is the best replacement for Flamini as he has been great when hes played CDM just not so good when hes played on the wing but that cause hes the furtherest thing from a winger Arsenal have. I would however like to see us sign a CB as think we really need 1.
June 18, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I dont think wenger will buy anymore players TBH but i hope he does but then again im always hoping for somthing when it comes to transfers & wenger..
Its couldnt be anymore obvious to every1 that we need a CB!! dont think we need anymore strikers & agree with what johnv says about that department & i am REALLY looking forward to seeing carlos vela as he could be the one who comes in on the quiet & supprises every1 & ive seen him on a few occasions & he looked good everytime plus we all forget that he’s also like a new summer signing..
June 18, 2008 at 10:09 pm
no ricky.
im afraid that you are incorrect.
June 18, 2008 at 10:37 pm
JamJam if Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo get injured who going to score their goals. Most clubs have three recognised forwards, we dont need anymore
June 18, 2008 at 10:42 pm
it def won’t be Saha anytime soon!
June 18, 2008 at 10:46 pm
maybe we can get saha on a season long loan
June 18, 2008 at 11:05 pm
Nasri is Ace man and its been hanging for a while that he is goin to be part of the gooner family…..think he will sign this week..Arsene knows as usual….and lets just hope that we get some more….think that Benzema could he next…
June 18, 2008 at 11:10 pm
OH yeah forgot Adebayor will score 40 next season for the Gunners…not for Milan or Barcelona …just go away and leave our players alone acting like the rich kids on the block….and maybe just maybe Thierry would like to come back to his shrine ARSENAL…..am sure that he is fed up in spain and would love to be home afterall he always said Arsenal is home…

June 19, 2008 at 12:42 pm
Is that Clive Anderson in the background, telling him what a great club Arsenal is?
June 19, 2008 at 1:41 pm
If he signed I think that would mean Hleb would be off.
http://www.aloadofballs.wordpress.com
June 19, 2008 at 4:38 pm
clive anderson, don’t make me laugh
June 21, 2008 at 5:18 am
Dont know wat that pics about but he just looks so happy bless him his mom made it just in time with his lunch box. Must have lunchables in there or somethin or frubes cuz hes defo excited. Oh n Hlebs off either way considerin the fact he’s came out and said he wants to leave. If arsenal want a decent centre half they should take another look at kompany….we wont tho!
June 23, 2008 at 9:33 am
Lets hope we get arshavin and not chelsea hearing today how abramovic will bid £2omill for him…cmon Arsene hurry it up what you waiting for! get this lil russian. Nasri nasri nasri is he really going to win us titles? Santa Cruz( if Ade goes), Arshavin( if Helb goes) Senna ( replacement for flamini) and 1 more striker i like the russian lad Roman Pavlyuchenko he’s got everything reminds me young Shevchenko. Basically we need to compete this year in the market lets just hope mr Wenger delivers!
