Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in landing Turkey international midfielder Arda Turan from Galatasaray.
It is believed that Arsene Wenger is attempting to prize the Turk from under the nose of Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan.
The 21-year-old comes with a hefty £10 million price tag, but as of yet has not spoken to any Premiership sides regarding his future.
An impressive start to Euro 2008 and helping Turkey move through into the next round of the tournament has seen Turan’s price rise considerably, and may even put him out of Newcastle’s price range.

Wenger did say about having his cheque book open when he goes to Euro.
June 17, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Yep and Turan is the kind of player we should be looking at.
June 17, 2008 at 5:15 pm
He’s not worth £10m. If we need anyone for a wide midfield role get Van Der Vaart, and he will cost less being that he wants to leave Hamburg finally.
June 17, 2008 at 5:18 pm
brilliant player. would be a very good signing along with david silva. they would fit in easily with the way we play
June 17, 2008 at 5:18 pm
@ Gunner #1
yeah lets buy VDV so he can give company to roSICKY.. we really need more injury prone players. :S
June 17, 2008 at 5:20 pm
Id prefer Van der Vaart also but with Ramsey and Nasri coming in not sure how we are going to accomadate every midfielder we seem to have!
June 17, 2008 at 5:24 pm
He’s in my Arsenal Pro Evo Master league team, very good on that for months and really impressed with him in Euro 2008.
Do we need him though? We have a lot of young players looking to play on the wing for Arsenal at the moment. Possibly Nasri, Ramsey, Traore, Gibbs, Randall and don’t forget he man with the spot at the moment Eboue, they will all have to battle with Walcott for a run in the team. If we were to buy a wide player (in addition to Nasri) we should buy a more experienced one.
Personally I think Nasri will smash it, we don’t need anyone else!
June 17, 2008 at 5:29 pm
where on earth have you plucked this from? i havent heard anything about us being linked to him and youve posted this. news is obviously very thin on the ground because this really is scratching the bottom of the barrel
June 17, 2008 at 5:30 pm
personally i think arda is atleast as good as vdv ,and nasri, he is much more clever then bouth because he doesnt has the speed off them but he sees the game very good.i personally be very hapy if we could bring him.from my point of view he is the bigest surprise from euro, becasue we all knew davi villa so he is no surprise, and after vill the best player from euro is turan

8:ARSENAL, Interest In Arda Turan

Following his great performance with Turkey in EURO 2008 competition, Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan, has received a lot of attention from European clubs. After have received the interest of Newcastle, Valencia and Stuttgart, the young Turkish star has now caught the eye of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Previously, Newcastle made a 12 million euros offer that was turned down by the Turkish champions, who have a contract with Turan till 2012. Galatasaray require 20 million euros for the player.

hmmmm
dont buy it. no quotes and how often are we linked to players who are fishing for a move (we were linked to to giorgios ‘couldnt hit a barndoor’ samaras before he moved to man city).
its like the agent thinks, ‘the player wants to move so lets link him with a club like arsenal who have a manager with a real eye for talent… thatll make other clubs interested;.
no chance of happening
June 17, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Correction, l’arse are interested in Thuram, the 39 rear old central defender, not Turan, the Turkish wonderkid
June 17, 2008 at 5:51 pm
are you crazy 12.or are you joking ?
June 17, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Why is VDV being suggested as a wide midfield player? He clearly isnt one. He’s a central player, as are Rosicky and Hleb. It’s quite clear how playing central midfielders on the wings just doesn’t work. We saw last season, mainly towards the end, that we needed someone who adds width to our game in order for us to score. We can’t just keep getting these central midfielders who driggle inside, because it congests the middle, making it much harder for us to score. On the topic of Arda, I’m not sure about him. From what I’ve seen of him, he’s similar to how Ronaldo used to be (loads of tricks), which is good to a certain extent, but loads of tricks arent going to win us much. If we were to buy him (and I think the price tag mentioned is far too much), Wenger would need to turn him into a much more direct player who isnt going to faff around with it.
June 17, 2008 at 6:06 pm
We are looking to be linked with players who’s surnames start with either an “L”, a “U” or an “X”.
According to the list on fansonline, those are the only letters of the alphabet that we are still missing…………………………………….
i.e, if anyone’s still wondering, there is so much garbage out there it’s just a joke.
June 17, 2008 at 6:18 pm
The first target is Nasri. The second target maybe Arda Turan.
June 17, 2008 at 6:25 pm
im sorry but this link is just tenuous. its fucking bollocks. totally making something of utterly nothing.
June 17, 2008 at 6:25 pm
i will eat my hat if this signing happens *
* hat is made of chocolate
June 17, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Obviously it’s speculation, thats why there’s a question mark at the end.
Wenger is at Euro2008 to look at some of Europe’s top stars…
Turan = Top Star
It makes sense.
June 17, 2008 at 6:39 pm
a little off topic but do any of you have that website that provides a streamlined version of the newsnow arsenal site without all the extra crap??? i read about it and found the link yesterday but have lost it
June 17, 2008 at 6:46 pm
the link is on arseblog today for that site.
June 17, 2008 at 6:52 pm
Sure Ali, click here.
June 17, 2008 at 6:58 pm
Nasri is on
June 17, 2008 at 7:12 pm
thanks Chris, and Manuel
June 17, 2008 at 7:13 pm
RVP.
Unbelievable mate!
Italy score a pen. Abidal sent off because off the foul. Nasri comes off after just 15 minutes on the pitch.
June 17, 2008 at 7:13 pm
(5 minutes later) aaaannd Nasri is off…
June 17, 2008 at 7:31 pm
“I know all the good Belgian players. Arsenal are following a number of them with great interest, although I won’t name names.”

Hmm.. who could these talents be?
June 17, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Steven Defour, Axel Witsel or Landry Mulemo.
June 17, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Steven Defour, Axel Witsel or Landry Mulemo.
June 17, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Vanden Borre?
June 17, 2008 at 7:42 pm
harvem van batem is one of them im sure. quality.
domenech is useless. how could he leave govou on in place of nasri. france are crap and abidal shows hes overrated, again.
June 17, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Abidal’s terrible, definitely not International level IMO.
June 17, 2008 at 7:46 pm
why was abidal playing at centre back anyway? domenech is clueless! he fluked his way to the world cup final and now hes showing his true colours.
france deserve to go out. boring team selection with ’safe’ players. if he had any bollocks diarra and nasri wud have been in from the start. diarras not played a minute – the move to pompey really worked for him. twat
June 17, 2008 at 7:50 pm
to think that clichy and sagna didnt get into this pitiful french squad is a disgrace. theyd be so much more dinamic with them in the team. domenech and the french will get what they deserve.
also all that faffing around with vieira when it was clearly apparent he would never be fit. so flamini goes home.
an absolute comedy of errors.
makes me glad england didn’t make it, because i think we’d have been in a similar state with mclaren at the helm.
June 17, 2008 at 8:18 pm
As much as i hate seeing italy go through france deserve being knocked out just 4 having an idiotic coach who cant select a decent squad let alone line up
June 17, 2008 at 8:37 pm
agreed. hopefully domenech resigns or gets fired after this.
arsene wenger to lead french international : )
June 17, 2008 at 8:39 pm
no ali. wenger not to coach france. wenger to manage arsenal.
you twat.
good riddance france and domenech.
June 17, 2008 at 8:42 pm
No way will Le Boss sign Arda Turan! He is everything that the boss doesnt like in his players. He is hot headed and very tempremental. He also likes night clubs and i cant see the boss liking that.
The biggest young Belgian talent is Eden Hazard.
June 17, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Again with all this young talent crap, we need experience in 2 key areas, defence and centre of the park, anyway you will find that wenger if he is to groom ‘young boys’ most of them will be british/english, n for me thats a bad sign, if it wasnt for the foreigners the premiership would be crap, n england never got to the euros cos they werent good enough, why, because the best players at the majority of prem clubs are not british!!
June 17, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Ed: Charming Young Man
June 17, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Get your own blog you manx lovin twat from surrey you muppet n on the dole!!!
June 17, 2008 at 9:05 pm
arda turan is pure quality and he’s not only tricks as someone said. Already he has scored 2 goals.
With wenger as his boss, he will be a world class player.
I hope this rumour is true
June 17, 2008 at 9:14 pm
turan is class if wenger gets him i will be happy also when the nasri trade is coplete im so pissed at the french for being out they suck there so fucking old domenech is a suckie fagget zifane should be coach of the french hey it worked wid van basten
June 17, 2008 at 9:17 pm
ohhhh my bad, can someone clear this up for me??
if wenger is managing the french team, then he couldn’t be arsenal manager at the same time???
if thats true, lol, the i obviously take back what i said about wenger and the french national team, lol.
June 17, 2008 at 9:46 pm
ali,
all arsenal fans would not want wenger managing france on a part time basis.
it would be shite.
June 17, 2008 at 10:11 pm
can you lot go swallow some shit and wake up. No tranfers until le boss makes em why get caught up in all the transfer shite
June 18, 2008 at 12:04 am
Felt real sorry for thierry tonight but france were shit!!
dont think wenger will buy this kid turan tbh & cant see him doing much more after the nasri deal is complete.
June 18, 2008 at 10:30 am
turan can do well at a club like arsenal. the french played like death last night..the turks play until the death, one reason why turan could be a good buy.
June 18, 2008 at 12:21 pm
We do need some players who play with there heart & a winger is a must..
Ive seen turan on a few occasions & he looks quite good but not sure if he’s what were looking for at the moment (a goal scoring winger or 2)
June 19, 2008 at 2:47 am
Arda looked good. Silky, even. Good candidate for wengerball.
August 3, 2008 at 3:41 am
Brilliant!
