Cardiff City official website announced earlier today that Welsh winger Aaron Ramsey’s “preferred destination is at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal.”
From the announcement, the Welsh club were informed of his decision last Friday and thus it was clear that the decision might have already been met even before he met Arsene Wenger via a private jet to Switzerland.
This announcement further proves the charm of Arsene Wenger, who has a track record of nurturing youngsters into superstars such as Fabregas, Henry and the list goes on.
Cardiff City will continue to have further talks with Arsenal and it is expected that Ramsey would attend medical in the next 24 hours.
Ramsey’s signing might just solve Arsenal’s wing ‘problems’ especially with versatile midfielder Alex Hleb set to leave in the next couple of weeks.

Ramsey’s footballing career really set off when he impressed in the ‘Urd’ tournament at the tender age of 8-years-old. Newcastle United looked to sign the youngster but Ramsey followed his heart and opted to join Cardiff.
He eventually made his City debut in the last home game of the 2006-07 Championship season, coming on to replace Paul Parry in the final minute of the 1-0 defeat to Hull City on. In doing so, Ramsey became the youngest player to ever play for Cardiff City, aged just 16 years and 124 days, beating the previous record holder John Toshack.

It was a good buisness with Ramsey. He is a clever boy.
I hope it will be introduce at the official website of Arsenal.

Its good to see that players still prefer to come to arsenal over the other big clubs & hope he gets the chance to prove himself & takes it with both hands.
Could be our 1st choice winger for years if he’s as good as some of the players he’s being compared to at his age.

I’m surprised as I was sure he was Utd bound. They must be pretty embarassed having announced the signing as a done deal on their website! Hence why Arsenal.com don’t reveal anything until it’s signed, sealed and delivered.
Good luck to him though. Hopefully he can live up to the hype and the massive price tag for an unproven 17 year old.

Yes mate, typical United jumping the gun.
Can’t wait to see Ramsey in action during pre-season.

Great news

what actual posistion does this kid play? and who can we compare him too? would he be straight into to the squad or would he need a season to prove his worth?
June 10, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Left wing but he can play all across midfield, a very adapatable player.

£5m is a drop in the ocean when you think we bought Theo at 16 for what looks likely to end up costing us £12m!!!
June 10, 2008 at 4:53 pm
We paid Saints 7.5m for Walcott as they were having financial probs so 2 quality players for less than 10m each. When you think Utd payed 30m for Anderson and Nani!!
June 10, 2008 at 4:58 pm
Definitely mate, we’re snapping up England’s top talents for small money.
June 10, 2008 at 5:15 pm
I don’t rate Nani one little bit
June 10, 2008 at 6:49 pm
Aint gonna win us the league next year tho is it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I wonder how the likes of Randall, Lansbury, Denilson, Wilshere will fare with the addition of Ramsey?
Is he going to be played as a left winger so he can compete with Vela, Rosicky, Maybe Hleb, Rosicky?
June 10, 2008 at 7:13 pm
And Merida too to add to that list
June 10, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Wilshere? He won’t make the first team. He might get the odd CC game as well as Lansbury and Randall.
So that leaves… Vela and Walcott as Ramsey’s main competition..
June 10, 2008 at 7:42 pm
So you’re saying you don’t think he’ll make it?
June 10, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Not next season.
June 10, 2008 at 7:56 pm
Hmm…
We could do something like this in the carling cup since Wenger thinks that Wilshere’s not going to be in the reserves for too
——–Vela—–Bendtner/Barazite———
Ramsey—–Wilshere/Randall/Merida/Lansbury—–Experienced Player – Gilberto—-Theo
Traore—–Toure—Nordtveit——-Rodgers/Gavin Hoyte
——–Fabianski/Mannone———
