Gunners boss Arséne Wenger told French TV station TF1 that the transfer of Samir Nasri to Arsenal is likely to be done before the start of the European Championships this June.
It was widely reported that contract talks had stalled with the 20-year-old Marseille star, since then, things have escalated and the transfer is likely to be completed before Euro 2008 gets underway according to the Arsenal chief.
When asked about the chances of signing Nasri, Wenger told French TV programme Teléfoot:
“It is likely that the transfer (of Nasri) will go through, if it happens, it will be before the start of the Euro (June 7-29)”
Today’s news almost signals the end of Alexander Hleb’s career at Arsenal. The Belarussian’s agent said yesterday that the 27-year-old wants out of the club.
Hopefully Nasri’s move is the first of many to come, as Wenger searches for Mathieu Flamini’s replacement and plenty more players to add to his small squad during the summer break.
