Arsenal and Mexico starlet Carlos Vela is set to start all two of his countries friendlies against both Argentina and Peru as well as decisive World Cup Qualifiers later on in June.
The 19-year-old was granted a UK Work Permit this week after ending his loan spell at Spanish minnows SD Osasuna.
When Vela was quizzed about his work permit being granted, he told reporters:
“I’ve been waiting two years for a work permit. Now my dream has come true. I have to take advantage of this opportunity to stay in England. I hope I’m lucky enough to be at Arsenal for a long time. I feel ready for Arsenal.”
The Mexican Vela, is a pacey, creative, tricky striker who has been continually used on the left wing this season for Osasuna where he has improved enormously as well as gaining the necessary experience which will help him in the upcoming season for The Gunners.
Vela is expected to be used like young Dane Nicklas Bendtner when he begins his Premier League career at Ashburton Grove; mainly appearances on the bench, but could get his chance in the inaugural Carling Cup competition as well.
Mexico Games Vela Is Expected To Feature In:
Friendly: Argentina v Mexico – 4th June
Friendly: Mexico v Peru – 8th June
World Cup Qualifier: Belize v Mexico – 15th June
World Cup Qualifier: Mexico v Belize – 21th June

I can’t wait to see this boy play for the Supergoons. Vela, Daddybayor, Nasri, Ben Arfa, Cescy and Theo Messi, now this promises to be a great season, so long as muggs like Martin Taylor stay away from our boys’ legs. Bienvenido Carlitos!!!

Vela isn’t expected to start many games though, maybe around January/February time he’ll get some chances like Eduardo did.

Dan, I bet you’re one of those guys who believes Vela will be like Henry for the get-go, and then if he takes time to settle in, and so on, gets pissed off because he doesn’t please you..
HAVE PATIENCE.
And.. Ben Arfa.. ? Do you have a hotline to Wenger?
May 24, 2008 at 2:19 pm
I think arsenal dont need carlos vela.Flamini has gone and Nasri will come.Hleb has gone and Ben Arfa should com not Carlos vela>This is my opinion>wenger should think very well.Arsenal in the last sesson have play well but the title have miss so Wenger…think

Ben Arfa will not come FFS!!!!
You’re one of many Gooners to say he’s coming, we won’t get both Nasri and Ben Arfa. The latter is on his way to Marseille.

Still be happier when its signed sealed and Nasri’s photographed in Red and White! As for Ben Arfa, no discussions have taken place between Marseille and Lyon yet but likely to when Marseille receive Arsene’s cheque for Nasri. I wouldnt be surprised if we play Vela in midfield this season though just for experience as we have an abundance in attackers atm.

We had better get a fair whack for Hleb as well, I know hes only got 2 yrs left on his contract but we deserve close to 8 -10 million as he’s a first team player. At least he is not going to buy out his contract and we will get a transfer fee for him. We would still be down on the 11.2mill that we paid Stuttgart for him but I would like us to buy someone like Joaquin who you could get for a steal from Spain.

Thanks Gooner Chris for posting a blog on a non N***i topic!
Vela gonna be a class act. All the top clubs wanted him after the world cup youth touranment but we came out on top
May 24, 2008 at 3:38 pm
haha, no problems
Yep, we were lucky to gain Vela’s services, now we’ve got them hopefully he can show the Premier League why he’s so hyped up!
May 24, 2008 at 3:49 pm
Gooner chris since Hleb is going who do you think Arsene will bring in to replace him? because I don’t think Nasri is his replacement I think we still would have signed him even if Hleb stayed
May 24, 2008 at 3:53 pm
He should end up playing in all the Carling Games and maybe a few FA Cup games so I dint expect him to set the premier league on fire in his first season, but certainly one for the future
May 24, 2008 at 4:00 pm
He is certainly Hlebs replacement as they both love to dribble with the ball, we probably would have tried signed him anyway to add competition to the squad. Rosicky or him will play on the left( if we sign him). I am suprised Wenger has not gone into the market to sign a left footed midfielder. Maybe he likes playing right footed players on the left as he did on numerous occasions with Pires, Freddie, Wiltord and Diaby this season. If RVP is fit then basically he will play up front with Ade. Remember Hleb was used mostly as an attacking midfeilder in a 4-5-1

i like vela……..owesome player.Did anyone see him play against madrid??? Remember what he did to Ramos at the corner flag?? That boy is great. You know what! what we missed last season was a strong bench like chelsea and manu.So having vela, theo, nasri, eduardo,Nick, van and ade will be great. Then song, and the new viera(diaby)Hipefully it will turn out to be a great season for the arsenal.
But,wait for vela, i promise you…….nice bank hol

Yep, Jillu’s reply is what I was thinking. He is a replacement for Hleb, both very versatile, both don’t score many goals
and both have a neat passing range!
May 24, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I tell you, I miss our 4-4-2 formation with the likes of Bergkamp dropping off to collect the ball and Freddie making darting runs and Vieria battling away in midfield. Wish we could get another Bergkamp and Vieria

I think arsenal need only one sriker and one left midflder this is sure deadly.
but arsenal need the most exprinced difender as u know every body in this season almost miss of difender beated.
so, arsenal need difender.
May 25, 2008 at 11:05 pm
agree wit gooner chris and jiliu abt nasri and hleb
May 26, 2008 at 9:45 am
nasir is good an strong player but i think he should not be look onto as a replacement for hleb coz they possess different type of play.so i think we should buy more player.who can stand inreplacement for flamini and good centre back and also the area of striker.villa or gomes should be bought and not samuel eto.
